For my very first blog post (sigh), I decided to be somewhat boring and unoriginal. Aside from the About section of my blog, you don’t know much about me and my motives for writing this. I thought that it would only be fair for readers to know my plan. So, I want to tell you a few things.
Let’s begin with why I’m here. To be completely honest, it’s mostly because I want a place to post my thoughts and ideas. Sometimes, Twitter just isn’t enough. I figured if I’m going through something, there’s a good chance someone else is or already has gone through the same thing. Plus, I love advice. As a Gemini, we seek advice of others constantly. We love to talk and we love to ask questions. Because of this, my friends know way too much about the issues going on in my life. This blog is essentially another outlet for me to ask questions and seek answers (and relieve my friends of their listening/advice-giving duties).
Now, how exactly did I get here? Several people have encouraged me to start blogging about my race training. I’ve been running long distance races (mostly half marathons) for the past three years. Up until about a year or so ago, running and training were my life. I spent 4 hours a day at the gym. It was the only thing that kept me sane between my classes and work. Had this blog been created when I originally started getting ideas for it, yes, it would’ve been all about running. But now, almost 2 years later, I’ve finally realized that there’s more to life than all that. Life has sent me running (figuratively and literally) down some pretty curvy roads and the girl that used to be has changed along the way. I’m no longer defined by how many miles I can run or how much I can squat. There are far more interesting things worth sharing with people.
This leads to me explaining what The Philly Girl Shuffle is going to be about. These posts will give you a glimpse into the things going on in my life. As boring as I say I am sometimes, my daily routine can have some twists. Maybe it’s an 8 mile run through some of Philly’s neighborhoods, a song I can’t get out of my head, a new restaurant I tried, or the latest argument with my sweetheart. Who knows. The mind of a girl with some serious attention problems is quite unpredictable.
So now that you know what will be going on here, stay tuned for my next post. It’s been a long time coming.
