“I’ve known it from the moment that we met, no doubt in my mind where you belong.”-Adele
Happy Monday! I don’t think I could be in a better mood. This weekend was absolutely perfect, in every way possible. Last week was really rough, and I was a little worried that it would carry into Saturday, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. I stopped by Philly Runner after work on Friday and picked up a new pair of Asics. I ended up getting the GT-2000s. They feel like heaven on my feet. I’m so excited to break them in this week. After I picked up my sneaks, Mike and I had a little date. It was so nice to relax and catch up after such a long week. I stuffed my face with pizza in preparation for my 11 mile run on Saturday morning. When I woke up at 6am, it was absolutely beautiful out. It was the perfect long run weather. I finished in my goal time, without hitting any walls. I’ve come to the conclusion (but still working on coming to peace with the fact) that I won’t be racing at my Broad Street pace. It sucks, but is no fault but my own. I didn’t do enough speed workouts. My training was a couple of weeks short to begin with because I registered late, and I was too worried about getting in endurance runs. Taking the summer off from running was nice, but it definitely screwed with my confidence. Now I’m just looking forward to running the greatest city in the world and beating my first course record.
After my run, I made a couple of trips to the new house and unloaded some stuff. By noon, I was exhausted. I felt sweaty and disgusting, and needed to do something to make me feel pretty. So, I went and got my nails done. As they were drying, I decided I deserved a beer too. I called up Mike and we decided to go to down to Main Street. 68 degree weather and hard cider on a Saturday afternoon…what could be more perfect? We finished up the night with family dinner and a late night bonfire. I couldn’t have asked for a more amazing weekend. Seriously. My heart still gets warm when I think about it.
My posts this week will probably be a little shorter than usual, as I finish packing up my apartment. But to keep the happies coming, I highly suggest listening to this song. It’s the best cover I’ve ever heard. I love this woman. The more I listen to it, the more I fall in love with this weekend all over again 🙂
