Beautiful War

“The tip of your tongue, the top of your lungs is doing my head in.”-Kings of Leon

IMG_5504BRRRR. It’s a blustery 24 degrees in Philly. I’m paying no mind to the fact that I can’t feel my toes because it’s THANKSGIVING WEEK. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I can’t even explain how happy it makes my heart. There’s nothing better than spending time with everyone I love, stuffing my face, drinking pumpkin beer, and watching football. I started baking this weekend in hopes that I would find the perfect cupcake for celebrations on Thursday. I tried a few different recipes: Maple Bacon, Pumpkin and Cream Cheese, S’mores, and Almond Joy. I’m having a rather hard time deciding. Maybe I’ll just have to bring all them? Calories don’t count on Thanksgiving.

Now that I have you dreaming about cupcakes, let’s talk about working out. My goal is to get faster, tone up and slim down, so I added weekly speed workouts and more weight training. My mileage and cross-training will probably vary from week to week, but I’d like to stay as close to this as I can. I want to add more yoga into the mix too. I slacked pretty hard this past fall with both weights and yoga. I need to be more diligent about adding them back into my weekly workouts. Welp…here ya have it:

  • Monday: AM run (3-5 miles)+PM leg day
  • Tuesday: AM yoga+PM tempo run
  • Wednesday: AM run (speed work)+PM upper body
  • Thursday: AM leg day+PM hot yoga
  • Friday: AM upper body+PM run
  • Saturday: Cross-training
  • Sunday: Long run

That’s the plan and I’m sticking to it. Now go and listen to some Kings of Leon and enjoy your Monday!
