“Living in ruins of the palace within my dreams and you know, we’re on each other’s team.”-Lorde
Hello there! Greetings from the freakin’ arctic aka Philadelphia. I’ve been working from my couch for the past two days because we got so much snow. That three-day weekend turned into like a 5 day weekend, not that I’m complaining. I love working from home, especially when it means I get to stay warm and cozy while it snows. I’m sorry I missed my usual Monday post, but it was quite the crazy weekend and I needed the day to recover. As usual when Hawks get together, we had a little too much fun 🙂
My best man friend came down from New York City on Saturday morning. We took a trip out to St. Joe’s since he hasn’t been there since we graduated. We spent entirely too much money at the bookstore, stalking up on Hawk tees. We got back into the city, just in time for brunch at Sabrina’s. I had the grilled cheese and it was AMAZING. Two kinds of cheese, caramelized onions, red peppers, green pears, and chipotle sauce. I about died and went to heaven. After brunch, we came back to my house and a few other people came over for some pre-game beverages. We headed up to University City and grabbed some awesome seats at the Palestra. Of course, we kicked UPenn’s butt, 85-68. All that Hawk spirit floating around in the air put us in the best mood, so we spent the rest of the night in Center City for post-game celebrations. It was an awesome day. Definitely one for the books.
I was super motivated at the beginning of last week, hitting the gym every day, killing it in spin class. But by Thursday, I was tired. Work’s been rough, and wine seemed like a better idea than weights. Slowly, but surely, my energy and motivation is coming back. A big reason why? My friend Tyler. He gave me a new plan to keep me from getting stale (with very specific instructions aka “don’t be a girl”). My legs are already jello. And I must say, he knows his stuff. It’s similar to the training I used to do when I was in college, and working out with two trainers. It’s been over a month since I’ve lifted really heavy, so I started lighter than I wanted to. I needed to get a feel for where I was at, and what would be a challenge. I’ll be increasing my weight over the next week or so, as well as the amount of cardio I’m doing. I’m excited to be so sore again. Here was Day 1!
I hope everyone is staying warm in the snowpocalypse. Since I’ve been snowed in, I’m bingeing on Criminal Minds and Law & Order: SVU. Did you know that the fingerprints of koala bears are virtually indistinguishable from humans’, so much so that they can be easily confused at a crime scene?! Welp, now ya do 🙂
