Hello there! Happy Valentine’s Day, my loves! I know it’s been a week since I’ve posted, but it’s been a pretty hectic week. Philly got hit with yet another snow storm and I’ve been working from home for the past two days. Even though it’s working out to my advantage because I can spend today watching all of Season 2 of “House of Cards” (YAAAAYYY it’s back!), I’m so tired of talking about snow. I’m tired of looking at it, and even more tired of not being able to run on a regular basis. I can lift and spin all I want, but until I’m chasing pavement, my head won’t be completely clear. And the past few weeks have really warranted at least a half-marathon of running therapy. But because today is Valentine’s Day and we’re suppose to spend it with those who we really love, I bundled up and braved the snow for a little one-on-one time with my love, the sidewalks of Philadelphia. My heart couldn’t be happier. Here’s to hoping the sun will melt the snow and I’ll be running much more in the next week or two!
So Friday was pretty amazing. Tyler came up from Baltimore and we all went to Shane’s gallery at Prime Stache. It was pretty sweet. The art was awesome. The drinks were delicious. It was a great time. I’ve purchased some more Shane Seery originals, and can’t wait to see the new stuff he’s about to put out. Keep your eyes peeled!
On Saturday, I met up with my friends from work for a couple of drinks before heading to dinner at Doma. Between the bottles of wine and the unholy amount of sushi rolls we ate, it was the perfect start to a night out. We headed back to Manayunk where she lives and met up with my friend Matt. As nights in Manayunk usually go, I was in dire need of brunch on Sunday morning. We ended up going to Varga, where I had the best egg white omelet ever. Brunch turned into a little Sunday Funday action, before heading home for Sunday night dinner. Chicken parm with a houseful of friends and family? Yes please! My heart is never as full as it is when we have everyone over for dinner. It’s one of my favorite things in the entire world.
Last weekend took a toll on my liver, and I’ve been kicking my butt back into gear ever since. With the shitty Philly weather, I have a few at home workouts in my back pocket, in case if I can’t make it to the gym. My go-to is Jillian Michaels’ “30 Day Shred”. It’s crazy to think that 30 minutes with her screaming at me through the TV makes me sweat as much as a 5-mile run. I have dumbbells and kettle bells too, so I can do squats and lunges and run up and down our 3 flights of steps to get my heart going. Being snowed in doesn’t mean you can’t get a good sweat going. All the Valentine’s Day sweets won’t be kicking my butt because I have a Barre AND spin class scheduled for Saturday morning and hopefully a run on Sunday (fingers crossed!). Plus I Monday off, which always calls for a double day!
