I prayed and prayed for a baby sister, but never would have imagined that I’d get so lucky to have such a beautiful soul to share this wild ride of life with. She even woke up nice and early to come cheer me on at my race. Even though I’ve been getting carded before her for years, I’m so excited to finally be able to go out in the city with my favorite person. Philly doesn’t know what’s about to hit them with both Pellegrino girls finally legal 🙂

IMG_7877Let’s recap the weekend, shall we? Friday night was spent stuffing my face with sushi and shopping for a new outfit to wear for my race. I rarely splurge on fill-priced running gear, but my mama decided to take me to City Sports and let me run wild. I got those bright neon shorts from Nike, especially since they’ll come in handy on night runs soon. I was in bed early and up just as the sun was coming up on Saturday. I laced up the Asics and walked the couple blocks down to the start line. It was so nice being so close to the race course. Once I got to the start, I downed a Gu and took off a few minutes later. It was so humid, even at 7:30. The first 2.5 miles were mostly in the shade, but I hit the 5k mark and there was no shade for what seemed like forever. I got to mile 4, and my stomach had its way with me (and all of Market street). Sushi and Gu gel vomit everywhere. I walked it off for a minute and then picked up my pace. I finished strong, not as fast as I started (whomp), but still strong. It was a great course and the post-race celebrations were fantastic. I love running, but I love running in Philly even more. This race is definitely going to be the kick off of race season, for the next billion years.

IMG_7879Sunday was spent brunching for my sister’s birthday and relaxing. I ran a nice tempo run in the morning for recovery. The weather was SO much nicer yesterday, so I had to make the best of it. Restaurant Week has officially started and tonight we’re headed to R2L. Even though I’ve been there plenty of times, the view is amazing and the food is delish. I can’t wait to share what we get. I’ve been eyeing up the menu since we made the reservation. I’m seriously the fattest kid ever. Hence why I run: food and beer. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and their week is off to a great start!




  1. Wow! Hardcore pushing through – even after the vomit! I wanted to do this race but since I just wrapped a long race weekend prior, I figured that I should give myself a break. It was freaking HOT on Saturday too – congrats on getting it done!
