“Even though my heart needs to take its time, I know that it’s mine.”-Phoebe Ryan
Can’t we just boycott Mondays? After weekends like this one, I wish Sundays never had to end. My heart is so happy and so full from all the love that I felt over the past few days. It’s so hard to see all my loves go home, but I know that it won’t be long until we’re all back together again. My cousin and his wife came down early on Friday afternoon and after I got off work, we went up to our favorite spot: Cantina. After eating our body weight in guac (and they threw back a few margaritas), we headed home for an early night in.
On Saturday, I was up for my last long run. Leave it to me to eat pavement on my last training run. To say that I’m ready for 45 degree weather and no more snow/ice is a very large understatement. By the time I got home, everyone was just getting up, so we got to enjoy coffee together with my sister and mama before the madness began. My aunt, uncle, and other cousin made it to our house around lunch. Since the sun decided to stay out all day, we were able to walk around the Italian Market, head down Passyunk Ave, and grab a glass at Stateside. We made dinner reservations at Victor Cafe for my aunt’s birthday. It’s one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the city. Not only is the food amazing, but the staff are all opera singers, so you get live opera music every 20 minutes. If you’re ever in Philly, you must try it out. After dinner, we came back home for cake and champagne before some of the family headed back home. It was definitely a birthday celebration to remember. I woke up oddly sore, so Sunday was spent in its usual fashion: laying on the couch and catching up on my shows. I’m getting super excited for my race this coming weekend. I’ve never ran in DC, and I can’t wait to log 13.1 then enjoy a night out with some of my high school favorites. Happy Monday loves!
