“My heart’s right and I believe we all hit our knees.”-Brantley Gilbert
TGIF loves. This week, all though it was short, was absolutely brutal. But it’s over and my bags are packed to head back to cow country for a little southern comfort this weekend. We have a few birthdays that need to be celebrated and the only way to do that is pub nights, pool days, and plenty of margaritas.
Let me tell you, marathon training in the Philly summer heat and humidity. After two weeks of consistently off paces and runs, I’m going to start planning when I run around the amount of humidity in the air. I’ve been in the worst moods, either because I end up running slower or because I can’t finish runs at my regular pace. Silver lining: I’m hoping that training in this weather will pay off and help me run fast in the fall.
- Monday: 3-miles easy
- Tuesday: 35-minute tempo (4.04 miles)+upper body weights
- Wednesday: 5-mile run+lower body weights
- Thursday: 2.5-mile tempo, 2.5 miles of speed intervals+upper body weights/ab circuits
- Friday: Rest
- Saturday: 5×5 hill repeats+lower body weights
- Sunday: 8-mile run
Anyone have any tips for adjusting to humidity and heat during training?
